Youth Partnership Program

The Youth Partnership of Middlesex County is here to help express a youth-oriented voice in the state and to reduce the stigma of mental health challenges and to help others in the community.

We are a fun group of 13-21 year olds from Middlesex County. We get together every week and sometimes we volunteer in the community and sometimes we just have fun. Typically, we go to a nursing home and play bingo with the residents once a month. We visit animal shelters regularly, and help out with food drives in New Brunswick. This past winter we raised money and bought warm winter coats for young residents in shelters. So far, we have bought more than 100 new coats for the youth in our area.

It's not all work though. We also have a lot of fun! We love movies, and going to the park for BBQs. Sam (our program coordinator) can’t cook, but we get him help. We also have ice cream night, and some pretty cool field trips that we go on at various times throughout the year. "Because I Love You" (B.I.L.Y.)

"Because I Love You" (B.I.L.Y.) is a leading, nationally acclaimed, self-help program used in hundreds of communities and is specifically designed to help parents and caregivers whose children have behavioral challenges. Some of the primary challenges the program addresses are the all too common destructive teenage behaviors of drug abuse, stealing, violence, dangerous activity and failure at school. It also handles the more aggravating, day-to-day issues like messy rooms and chores not being done. It is dedicated to support parents of youth with behavioral, emotional or mental health complexities and promotes structure, consequences and consistency in raising our children.

P.A.C.E.S. Parent Support Group

At Family Support Organization of Middlesex, we know just how tough it can be to be a parent.

In response to the local need for help and support, we created the P.A.C.E.S.(Parent And Caregive Emotional Support) support group. We run regular sessions at our North Brunswick office, as well as other locations throughout Middlesex County. The goal of these meetings is simple - to bring families together for positive, ongoing companionship, education & training, developing critical problem-solving skills, and networking with other parents experiencing similar issues.
